About This Experience

Connect with the everyday life, scenery, history and culture of this unique little island off the coast of Sicily! You'll stroll the main street of Santa Marina di Salina with your friendly guide to see the traditional little shops and cute boutiques. Then you'll drive to the tiny hamlet called Lingua where you'll take a short walk along the seaside promenade and see the lake that gives Salina its name.

Next, take a break to indulge your taste buds at Da Alfredo, the local hole-in-the-wall serving up a local specialty you simply can't miss: Pane Cunzato, focaccia bread piled high with local ingredients such as capers, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, and oregano. Finish it off on a sweet note with homemade granita! NOTE: I recommend you share a pane cunzato, they're pretty big and you should save room for granita!

After lunch, you'll pay a visit to a local family where you'll get to see traditional Salina architecture, learn about the crops in their garden (such as capers), and see how locals made wine in the past, before advanced technology and machinery. By the end of the experience, you’ll feel more connected with local life and have a better understanding of local traditions and culture.
