While the ruins of the Roman Forum and Colosseum are impressive, there are many lesser-known archeological sites where Roman history comes alive (and with fewer crowds)! On this walking tour with our local friend, Chiara, you’ll explore the fascinating ruins of Ostia Antica. This archeological site is larger and richer in remains than Pompei– it was an actual city, the harbour of Rome, for 500 years. It features temples, thermal baths, rich villas with frescoes and mosaics, shops and restaurants, a big necropolis and one of the most well preserved Roman theaters in Europe still used today. After gaining a deeper understanding of what everyday life might have been like here, you’ll head to the medieval “Borghetto”, or “little village”. This medieval village has a unique charm and dates back to the 9th century. Don’t miss the perfectly preserved castle!

Next, relax and refresh with an aperitivo with your friendly guide, Chiara. After some friendly conversation, you’ll be walked back to the station to return to Rome.
